During a very busy Open Week, we were privileged to welcome the 1967 Open winner, Argentinian Roberto De Vicenzo into The New Golf Club and present him with our centenary book as a souvenir.
Roberto, aged 87, had come across to Scotland to attend the Open, the Past Champions Dinner at the R&A and to play in the Past Champions golf match, as well as promote the bronze sculptures of his hands holding the Claret Jug. These had been launched in the Russacks Hotel earlier in the week, alongside an exhibition of golf paintings by Joe Austen and marquetry by Tony Jacklin.
