Hot off the press, my 12th golf-related book design celebrates the 175th anniversary of The StAndrews Golf Club.
Founded in 1843, its early members included Old Tom Morris, young Tommy Morris, Allan Robertson and Jamie Anderson, to name just a few.
Over those 175 years, club members have won 21 Open Championships, three US Championships, the USPGA Championship, two Amateur Championships, the US Amateur Championship and the Scottish Amateur Championship.
In the early years, club members also helped introduce the game to countries around the world.
So little wonder it took the author, Keith McCartney, over ten years to write the book! Its 312 pages cover the enormous contribution this club has given to StAndrews town, Scotland and the game of golf itself.
It covers every aspect and era of the game, from its birth and its early great players, royal visitors and ambassadors, through the challenges of the War years, and into the modern game.
This book is absolutely jam-packed with wonderful images of the club’s members’ achievements, memorabilia, trophies and events and is a fascinating insight into local history. Mike Ciesla, Past Captain at The StAndrews Golf Club 2006-2007 did a fantastic job of searching many of the additional images in the book.
There are two editions – a signed leather edition of 200, and a hardback of 1,800, priced at £75 and £35 respectively to club members. Measuring 280mm x 280mm, I can assure you it will require a sturdy coffee table!
I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed designing it.
